A Brief Speculation on Where We Might Be Going...

Consider first:  So far no non-human intelligence has seen fit to destroy us, though it’s clear from the evidence they could do so in a stroke.  All but a tiny fraction of even initially very scary UFO contact/”abduction” episodes reveal the visitors to be net-non-hostile.
Yet, we’re a seriously flawed, engineered “species”, potentially explosively dangerous to our solar system if we blow up the planet.  A hydrogen bomb holocaust could do that.  Surely the visitors know this, yet they don’t intervene or permanently monkey-wrench our vast overkill nuclear arsenals, or meddle in any other of our affairs in a substantive way that might divert us from a slide down the slippery slope to Armageddon.

Consider second:  Many reports show non-human intelligences employing what we consider “paranormal” capabilities, most prominently telepathy.  Yet not far behind are PK, walking or floating through walls, paralyzing people in their beds, materialization and de-materialization (often of themselves and/or their “craft”), not to mention the jaw-dropper of them all, faster-than-light-speed travel.

Consider third:  Part of our engineered heritage is from terrestrial animals, most of whom demonstrate powerful “paranormal” capabilities, be they fish schooling and turning suddenly and simultaneously in place without even touching a neighbor, to birds flocking without a leader, to homing pigeons, to Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home (Rupert Sheldrake, 1999)

Consider fourth:  A question:  Could it be that non-human intelligence knows our whole species is on the verge of “catching up” with this part of what it is to be sentient?  That soon those of us who exhibit such capabilities – sometimes extravagantly (John Edward, Daniel Tammet and Caroline Myss come to mind) – will no longer be midday TV entertainment, but respectfully noted as vitally important keys to the Doors of Perception.

Aliens in the New World: A New Paradigm for Ufology
by Michael Miley

"Throughout history, many societies have acknowledged consciousness as something more potent than we have in the West -- as a sieve or receiver and transmitter of communication with forces, not always visible, other than ourselves. The contemporary Western tenet that we are alone in the universe, conversant only with ourselves, is, in fact, a minority perspective, an anomaly."  -John Mack, Abduction: Human Encounters with Aliens

The Significance of UFO Experiences
by R. Leo Sprinkle, Ph.D.

In my opinion, UFO activity is one aspect of a huge educational program. The program can be called "cosmic consciousness conditioning."

This educational program apparently is conducted by representatives of extraterrestrial (ET) and/or ultraterrestrial (UT) civilizations. These representatives (UFOLKS) seem to be highly sophisticated, both technically and ethically. They can remain "invisible" to the human eye, and to the dominant Earth culture, except when they choose to arrange an encounter. The purpose of these encounters seems to be an initiation for the individual, and a stimulus to society, so that human development moves from Planetary Persons to Cosmic Citizens.

Quotes

"We are not alone.  Does the reader understand that?  So too, we are our own proof of same in a universe where what can happen, happens.  And happening, promotes the accelerated ease of a subsequent happening.  Reader?  We happened.  Others are obvious; we cannot presume upon an arrogance that we were first, eh?"
-Alfred Lehmberg, UFO Magazine, 12/07, p. 29

"The sightings and encounters go on and on, inconclusively; there is no evidence of rational plan, goal, outcome, closure. There is just the endless game, playing like children play, who quit when they get tired. The mistake: we're trying to be serious about what's just a goof. It would be as if your dog got neurotic over trying to figure out why you keep tossing a stick away from him every time he retrieves it."
-Michael Grosso

"The attempt of scientific ufology to measure an incommensurable phenomenon is one of the great social comedies of our time.  It is like the old story of the wise men of Gotham trying to fish the moon's reflection out of a pool using rakes."
-Colin Bennett, UFO Magazine, 11/07, p. 67

"The whole close-encounter experience has a texture of the improbable that lifts it right out of the ordinary context of "alien contact".  If this is contact with aliens, then they are even stranger than the strangest beings we could have imagined... They told me that they came from "everywhere" and their names, suspect, are no more fixed than the wind."
-Whitley and Anne Strieber, The Communion Letters

"I learned that some, possibly all, UFOs don't create a sonic boom when they shoot off into space, which indicates that their craft have interdimensional propulsion aspects, and so where they are from is neither here nor there.  Perhaps literally."
-Jeremy Vaeni, UFO Magazine, 1/08, p. 22

"The assumption that aliens are three-dimensional beings like us who have flown here in mechanically constructed spaceships from planets far away covers only a small subset of the entire alien presence, and it is severely insular to examine only the hardest physical evidence of the alien phenomenon in the name of science.  The alien presence is mostly hyper dimensional and therefore nebulous because its true nature far exceeds the boundaries of popular assumption."

"It's the situation of the ants and the writing pen:  the ants came across mysterious markings on paper, were baffled by the mystery  until one day they saw the tip of the pen making contact with the paper.  Although they had no conception of human beings, some of the ants thought they were very close to solving the mystery..."

"[George Van Tassel's] Integratron is therefore a monument to the imagination, that most vital part of us, that central flux from which all things emerge.  As a construct, Van Tassel's structure links landscape, time and personality, defying all attempts to reduce the dimensions of the UFO experience to the ledger-clerking of a foundering "scientific" ufology almost drowned and lost in document-dementia and case-history scholasticism worthy of a medieval theological debate."
-Colin Bennett in UFO Magazine, 11/07, p. 64-5

"They're made out of meat."

"Meat?"

"Meat.  They're made out of meat."

"Meat?"

"There's no doubt about it.  We picked several from different parts of the planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, probed them all the way through.  They're completely meat."

"That's impossible.  What about the radio signals?  The messages to the stars."

"They use the radio waves to talk but the signals don't come from them.  The signals come from machines."

"So who made the machines?  That's who we want to contact."

"They made the machines.  That's what I'm trying to tell you.  Meat made the machines."

"That's ridiculous.  How can meat make a machine?  You're asking me to believe in sentient meat."

"I'm not asking you; I'm telling you.  These creatures are the only sentient race in the sector and they're made out of meat."

"Maybe they're like the Orfolei.  You know: a carbon based intelligence that goes through a meat stage."

"Nope.  They're born meat and they die meat.  We studied them for several of their life spans which didn't take too long.  Do you have any idea the life span of meat?"

"Spare me.  Okay, maybe they're only part meat.  You know, like the Weddilei.  A meat head with an electron plasma brain inside."

"Nope.  We thought of that since they do have meat heads like the Weddilei.  But I told you: we probed them.  They're meat all the way through."

"No brain?"

"There is a brain.  The brain is made out of meat!"

"So what does the thinking?"

"You're not understanding, are you?  The brain does the thinking. The meat."

"Thinking meat!  You're asking me to believe in thinking meat!"

"...and this is why the flying saucers are not landing.  'Cause we're so damn stupid! (applause and cheering) They know us.  They know that if they hang out with us, sooner or later we're gonna take 'em out, get 'em drunk, beat the shit out of 'em, and take their damn saucer."
-the comedian, Gallagher

"Well, so what that means is that a hallucination is datum for reality in the same way that ordinary perception is. Shamans have been talking to aliens for a hundred thousand years. For some reason, it is ruled not [in the same category] as what we’re talking about – we the flying saucer people. It’s a puzzling thing to me, because the experience is repeatable. The one thing which science always says of the flying saucers is, “Well, you can’t produce them on demand.” But with DMT [Dimethyltryptamine, a powerful, fast-acting psychedelic] you can produce encounters with elves on demand."
-Terence McKenna
Out in space two alien life forms are talking.

The first alien says, "The dominant life forms on the earth planet have developed satellite-based weapons."

The second alien, who looks exactly like the first, asks, "Are they an emerging intelligence?"

The first alien says, "I don't think so. They have them aimed at themselves."

Greg Bishop, Nick Redfern and Craig Woolheater take the position that UFOs are much more than just nutznboltz and observe and comment on the current UFO scene from that perspective.

Greg Bishop has his own site and publication, “The Excluded Middle”.  The news section duplicates the <ufomystic.com> site, but after that Greg takes off on his own.  A keen observer and excellent critical chops.  No simplistic nutznboltz here; Greg sometimes calls his beloved subject matter “uncategorizable weirdness.”

The UFO viewed as something faaar beyond and faaaar more important than just a bunch of nutznboltz “craft” tooting around our skies.  Whitley Strieber’s site may be one of the most intelligent UFO sites on the web, bearing witness to Dr. John Mack’s famous line, “UFOs are outreach to the consciousness-impaired.”

[from the site]  “But SETI is nothing more than a badly-contrived myth. It seeks legitimacy through claiming membership in the larger scientific community, which itself is a collection of old myths that have outlived their usefulness."
“You have suspected as much. Now for the first time, this issue is fully explained, in this website, which also strives to provide something better.”
Gerry Zeitlin takes SETI apart revealing it as the pseudo-science it is.

BLT Research under Nancy Talbott is devoted to collecting and analyzing hard data from crop glyphs in England. Study what she's got and remove all your doubts that, using stringent scientific standards, there are many demonstrably anomalous crop glyphs every year all over the planet. The young Dutchman, Robbert van den Broeke, who knows when a glyph is about to show up near his home, is another demonstrably and highly unusual phenomenon. An exciting site!

Brilliant enumeration and illustrations of features that make many crop glyphs authentic -- that is, humans could not have made them.
