"The most primitive people on earth are out-living us by up to 50 years! They have no medical plans, no pills, no x-rays, no electricity, no freezers, no stoves; they're 100 years old and still having sex. You tell me who's better off." ~ Markus Rothkranz, Motivational Speaker & Raw Foodist
* “Why is health failing when following the Food Pyramid?” * “Why are so many people sick or on meds these days? * “Why do so many people have food allergies?” * “Why am I hungry so soon after I eat?” * “Why can’t I lose weight?”
These are questions many of us ask ourselves. I believe there are 3 things that answer all of the above questions:
1) So much of the stuff in our food isn’t food, but chemicals. 2) It’s a Food Pyramid (more like a pyramid scheme) created by Big Food and Big Pharma. 3) Nearly everything we’ve learned up to now about nutrition is either incorrect or incomplete (and in some cases we’ve been intentionally misled). We invite you to look at nutrition with new eyes.
Imagine that no matter how well-meaning our teachers were, much of what they taught us about optimal nutrition and health is wrong; they thought they were giving us facts, but the source of their “facts” was flawed.
Consider David Wolfe’s shrewd counsel, “Don’t take advice from people who aren’t getting the results you want.” In other words, if anyone tells you to eat something that they deem nutritious, healthy, and life-sustaining, but they are overweight, ill, and/or on long-term prescription meds, their advice is probably lacking something. If what they’re doing (and recommending you do) worked so well, they’d be experiencing optimal, brilliant health as a result of doing it.
The keys to great health are simpler than you might think, and the answers have been right under our noses all along. If what you find here makes you say, “Well, if this is so simple and it works, why doesn’t my doctor/therapist/parent, etc. teach this?” Frankly, they probably just don’t know, because we’ve all been taught the same stuff – the stuff peddled by Big Food and Big Pharma that everyone has accepted as truth.
Maybe all we need to do is adjust our perspective. What if an innovative look at nutrition can offer us the health and weight we desire, plus freedom from chronic illness? What if we just need to change what we eat without losing taste or satisfaction? This page has many suggestions and ideas that have helped people do just that.

What If Being Fat Is Not Your Fault? America's Obesity Epidemic May Be Fueled by Chemicals in Everyday Products by Tara Lohan, AlterNet. Posted October 3, 2009
Chemicals called 'obesogens' are in our food, cars and homes, according to recent scientific studies -- and they may be making us fat.
It's hard to escape the image of Americans as slothful and overweight. But what if being fat wasn't totally our fault?
The narrative we pound into our heads everyday is that we live in a country where fast food rules, where morning coffee drinks can provide nearly one-quarter of your daily calories before you even get to breakfast, and where you can have pizza topped with Oreos.
And there's the issue that less than a quarter of us exercise regularly, and on average we spend 142 hours a month lounging on our couches, our eyes glued to a TV.
So it's no wonder that the Centers for Disease Control report that more than a staggering 60 percent of adults and 16 percent of children are obese. In the last three decades, obesity has doubled among adults and tripled among children. And experts say there are a range of issues that contribute to it -- the most obvious is of course diet and exercise. FULL ARTICLE HERE
The Benefits of Soaking Nuts and Seeds by Delicia Beaty and Sharon Foutch
Soaking nuts, grains, seeds, and legumes Nature has set it up so that the nut, grain and seed may survive until proper growing conditions are present. Nature’s defense mechanism includes nutritional inhibitors and toxic substances that can be removed naturally when there is enough precipitation to sustain a new plant after the nut, grain or seed germinates. When it rains the nut, grain or seed gets wet and can then germinate to produce a plant. So we are mimicking nature when we soak our nuts, grains and seeds.
Nutritional inhibitors and toxic substances found in nuts grains and seed can be minimized or eliminated by soaking. FULL ARTICLE HERE
Monkey Training by Debbie Took
... A physical prod is hard to ignore. The reason given for eating cooked food that seems to trump all others is: But I get hungry!' Stomach sensations persuade us that we 'must' eat - and now! And, if we're in a situation where it isn't 'easy' to eat raw, or if we're so 'ravenous' we tell ourselves raw just won' cut it, we eat... whatever's at hand.
We're conversant (ish) with the 98+ emotional/psychological reasons for eating when we're not hungry, but these stomach sensations are physical and are therefore, undeniably, signs of hunger. (Aren't they?) We dutifully make the super-large salad, or feast on fruit, but when two hours later our tummies are rumbling and we have an 'empty' feeling, surely we're right to complain that, 'I'm hungry - raw food just doesn't seem to satisfy me!' Heart to Mouth: How to Deal with Those Raw Emotions by Karen Knowler Originally published in Get Fresh! magazine December 2007:
So you know what to eat, but you’re still not doing it (and maybe you’re not even completely sure why…) or perhaps you’re more than well aware that your emotions are ruling your diet more than your head but you just can’t seem to break the pattern? Ready to ease the pain and get healthy? Karen Knowler clears the path…
Like the majority of the clients I work with, Susan (name changed), 41, had no problem at all sharing with me from the get-go that emotional eating was at the core of her weight and energy issues.
“I just can’t seem to help myself,” she sighed. “It doesn’t matter if my head is busy telling me it’s no good for me or that it will make me gain even more weight, in that moment I really don’t care. I’ll just open the fridge and wolf down whatever looks good at the time… and then of course I just feel fat and sick afterwards. It’s been going on for way too long now. I hate the way I look and feel. I’ve really had enough!” FULL ARTICLE HERE
